Hello! My name is Mayra Ochoa Paz, I am a Liberal Studies major and this is my second session at Brandman University. I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree and then I plan on continuing on to the credential program so I can teach second grade. I have worked with severely handicapped children for over ten years and I absolutely love it.
I believe that as a teacher you are constantly learning, whether it’s finding ways to manage different behaviors or coming up with fun ways to teach a lesson. I would like to research different techniques and teacher experiences so I can always have tools to use when needed. After completing the reading for this week, I became more aware of how much I have to learn when it comes to research. I have been out of school for ten years so I have a lot to learn. I would really like to learn how to become a more effective researcher and how to navigate the online libraries. I am looking forward to becoming a better researcher!

Hi Mayra. Thanks for sharing your blog posting with us. I’m happy to see that you’re planning on becoming a teacher! Our future leaders depend on great teachers. Your occupational goal of teaching second grade is very specific. What has made you choose that grade?
ReplyDeleteYou wrote in your post about becoming aware of the need to become a better researcher; you’re not alone. This week’s main assignment was quite a challenge for me too. Good luck with completing the rest of the class and achieving your dream of becoming a teacher.
Hi Mayra! I too am here to get my Bachelors in Liberal Studies and I also would like to complete my credentials after. I think second grade is a great choice because I also too am choosing between either second or third grade that I would like to teach. You chose a good topic to research because that is a good way to get information and prepare for when you are your own class. Teachers are always responsible to find new ways to get the kids interested in what they have to learn so it will be a good way for you to get a head start on some ideas.
