This was my first time writing a literature review and it was definitely more challenging than I expected it to be. I had a difficult time writing a review that didn't sound like a summarization. Once I had a better understanding of how to write it, I was pleased with my finished paper. Writing the literature review really helped me see the similarities and differences of the journals and articles I had selected. This process really helped me have a better understanding of what I was reading. The way I conduct my research has been positively affected by this process. In the future, I will be more mindful and selective of the sources I select for my research. There are a few unanswered questions about my research question, the importance of integrating visual arts into the curriculum. I came across a paper written by John M. Eger in 2015 titled CALIFORNIA IN THE CREATIVE ECONOMY. Eger states that the recent implementation of the Common Core, driven by arts integration, will help foster creativity and new ways of thinking. I was unaware that the common core focused on art integration. After a few more years I would like to see more research and statistical evidence of the results of the Common Core implementation.
