This week’s assignment consisted of finding a Peer Reviewed Empirical Research Article. Before this week, I had never heard of that term so I was a little uneasy beginning the assignment but was surprisingly pleased with my result. With the use of the ERIC (EBSCO) database, I was able to find a great article supporting my research topic, "The Importance of Integrating Visual Arts into Curriculum." This article supported the fact that the arts integration is very important and an amazing teaching tool. It not only enhances learning but helps students learn things that are difficult for them. My eyes were opened to the fact that due to the way the education system is set up schools have to define their curriculum in terms of language. Therefore, greatly limiting the integration of visual arts as a form of showing what a student has learned. The challenge of planning a good Visual Arts integration has led me to want to research different online lesson plans to help me better understand how to teach an effective, engaging, and fully-integrated lesson.
